Here are some frequently asked questions that may answer your queries about hiring our games. Should you need more information please do not hesitate to call (022 101 4422) or email us (ben@thecheshirecat.co.nz).

 

What kind of events do you do?

We have a wide variety of equipment that can cater for many events including corporate events, weddings, fundraisers, birthday parties, team building events, functions and many more.

How long is the hire period?

Our standard hire period is a maximum of 72 hours (e.g. delivery/collect any time from 12 noon on Friday and pick up/return any time before 12 noon on Monday. If you require items for longer let us know how long and we can provide a quote for you.

How far in advance should I book items?

There is no time limit to this, but generally we suggest booking 3-6 months in advance to have the best possible chance of booking the games of your choice. But even if your time frame is shorter than this, please contact us as we will always do the best we can to fulfil your request.

What is the booking process?

Once you have decided which games you would like to book for your event and whether you'd like us to deliver, contact us and we'll let you know whether the games are available for your event date and provide a quotation. Then simply pay the deposit to secure your booking.

How do I pay?

A 50% deposit is required to secure your booking. The remaining balance is due 14 days before your hire period begins. If your event is within the next 14 days we will need payment in full at the time of booking. Payments should be made by bank transfer to 38-9018-0297552-00.

Are you able to deliver the equipment?

To give you one less thing to have to think about we provide a delivery, set up and collection service. This service is half price if you are with 15km of our base in Christchurch and hire items totaling at least $325; or if you are within 25km and hire items totaling at least $425. If you are hiring a lower value or are further away, please get in touch with us for a quote.

Can we meet you?

Many events are successfully organised by email and telephone. Some events, such as corporate team building, may benefit from a meeting in which we can come and visit you or you can come and meet us at our base in Christchurch.

What levels of service do you provide?

We offer customers a variety of services to suit their event and budget. This includes providing a delivery and collection service for your event, or allowing you to come and collect equipment directly from us. Our services can also include planning meetings and site visits for larger events to ensure everything goes smoothly.

How big are the games? Will they fit in my car?

The dimensions of each of the larger games are provided in the game description. 

I’ve found a cheaper quote, will you price match?

We will always strive to offer the best deal possible for your event, however it is not always possible to price match as the quality of the games and service we offer is not always reflected in other companies’ quotes, and so it may not be a ‘like for like’ offer. We offer the best possible customer service from the first contact right through to the day of the event. We pride ourselves on the quality and presentation of our equipment, which is always to the highest standard.

I’ve just checked the weather forecast and it doesn’t look good, can we still use the equipment?

It is as important to us as it is to you that your event is a success. Most of our equipment will still be fine to use if the odd shower passes over. A lot of our equipment can also be used indoors. Some of our equipment is sensitive to high winds and/or prolonged rainfall, and if this is the case the game instructions provided with the game and game description on this website will highlight this fact. We take great care to ensure that our equipment is in a good condition and expect that you will treat it with the same level of care during your hire.

When can I collect the games and when do I drop them off?

If you are collecting and dropping off the games yourself then equipment will be available for collection from 12:00 noon on your collection day and must be returned by 12:00 noon on your return day. Our standard hire period is a maximum of 72 hours.

How do I secure a booking?

To secure your booking, we require a 50% deposit. This secures all particular items and quantities in your booking and means that no-one else can hire the equipment at that time.

Have I left it too late to book?

It’s never too late! Get in touch with us, even if it’s the day before and we will tell you what equipment is available.

Can I change the equipment I have booked?

Generally yes. Although there may be a more limited choice if you leave it too close to your event date. Please contact us if you wish to make any changes. We will confirm any changes and additional costs with you.

Can I have the equipment for longer than originally quoted for?

If you require items for longer just let us know as this can usually be arranged. We will confirm any changes and additional costs with you.

Do items need to be cleaned before they’re returned?

Generally items do not need to be cleaned, and we ask that you not use any chemicals to clean the games as this can cause damage. However, we do expect them to be wiped free of excessive mud and dirt.

How can I be sure that your equipment is safe?

All of our equipment is inspected before each hire. Safety is our highest priority and we take every precaution to ensure that our equipment is safe. Every piece of equipment is regularly tested and maintained. Each of our games is supplied with detailed set up and operating instructions that include safety precautions.

What if I damage goods and what is considered damage?

All hired items are your responsibility during the hire period. If items are damaged but can be fixed or minor parts lost, you may be responsible for the cost of repairing the damage or replacing the part. If damage is irreversible, which mean the items would not be acceptable for hire, you may be asked to pay for the cost of replacement. All items remain the property of The Cheshire Cat Company Limited.
